A Random Return
Gone
Lost in the sea,
The advent of peace.
Gone
With words flowing,
Throughout my mind.
Breaking waves sound
Like the sadness
Crushing inside out.
Carousel
Digging in the sand
Children at the park.
A carousel in the distance.
The calliope its sounds
Cut through the air
To signal it is autumn.
Reminiscing when we met
Those familiar sounds invoke
A mesmeric sense of abandon.
Digging in the sand
A ferris wheel stands
Where the calliope once chimed.
A hand in darkness
Brings hearts to life
Will you sing for me?
While they surrender themselves
To the unending merriment
the inner turmoil reaches climax.
Digging in the sand
A pier lies abandoned
I remember where you were.
Eyes once warm, cold
Emboldened by the fire
Which raged underneath cold skin.
The fires long gone
Out in the park
The carousel sings again.
Digging in the sand
The emptiness I feel
When those tears of yours
Dried for the last time.
